I am not nearly as good as my dear friend Erica at remembering and blogging her conversations with her adorable children! I think "I need to remember that" or "boy that was funny" and then forget totally by the time I sit down. So as I am going to bed way too late already tonight, I thought I needed to document for prosperity the "normal" conversations that happen to us each day. And this is an example of what conversations went on just today. ... okay, the ones I can remember at 12:30 AM at night!
This morning after dropping of Nicolas for school and Lexi and I were heading to the store.
Lexi: Mommy! Where are we going? I want to go home!
Me: We need to go to Michael's and then to gymnastics. (calmly)
Lexi: NO! (frantic) I need to go home.
Me: Why? I need to run an errand. We'll go home after gymnastics if you want.
Lexi: NO! I need to go home NOW! Five people are coming over to our house.
Me: What? Five people?
Lexi: Yes! And they are going to take my toys. We need to go home.
Me: (okay, I admit... I got nervous... what if she is psychic and I don't know it? I mean, could there be people wanting to break into our house? We do have lots of toys!)
Me: If we go drive by the house and you see that no cars and no people are there can we go to Michael's and buy mommy's flowers to finish the wreath for the door?
Lexi: (with much relief... thinks about it) Yes. That's okay.
Proud moment.... gymnastics last official day of the session. Lexi is getting her shoes on and looks at me and asks unprompted, "Mommy, can I go say thank you?" And walks off to tell her teachers "thank you."
Later, at McD's for lunch (sad to admit but we thought it was going to rain as it was sprinkling on us in the car and we were going to go to the park).... 12:45 Lexi walks up to me.
Lexi: I want to go home now.
Me: (shocked as it is early for her) Now? Can I have a few more minutes?
Lexi: Okay, you have three minutes mommy! One! Two! Three! (showing me the minutes as she counts them off on her fingers)
Me: Thanks (floored) I appreciate that.
Lexi: (walks to play area to play but periodically reminds me of my time as it counts down) You have two minutes now, mommy..... you have one minute now, mommy.
Later... Nicolas comes home and Lexi is napping. I go to wipe his bottom after pooping. (yeah! the joys of parenthood) He is supposed to be bending over to let me wipe and I guess that gives him a good view of my adorable shoes.
Nicolas: Mommy, why are you wearing those shoes?
Me: I like them, why?
Nicolas: I don't like them. They are ugly. Why are you wearing them?
Me: Well, I understand you don't like them but we can like different things. So you don't like them but I do.
Nicolas: Why would you like them when they are ugly?
Me..... how do you answer that?
By the way, later Lexi looks at my shoes and says "Mommy, those are beautiful shoes!" Yippee! I am not embarrassing to both our children!
Pictures of the day coming soon. Wanted to write this before it is lost to my deteriorating brain!
