No picture but quite a story! After soccer we all came home and started working at the house. Shawn cut the grass and the kids and I started playing with the cars on the front driveway. I started cleaning the garage... Shawn joined in... and the day went from there. The garage got a big organizing job. Later Nicolas decided to take his bike out for a spin. I told him that he could ride on the sidewalk only as far as the driveway on each side of our house. After one spin... Nicolas was in front of our house with the helmet off and standing by his bike. So picture him leaning on his bike, looking suave and one foot crossed over the other. Here is the conversation that took place...
Mom: Are you finished riding your bike already, Nicolas?
Nicolas: No, I am acting like I am stopping and talking with someone.
Mom: Oh (as I smile about how often we ride and he has to stop as mom or dad is talking to someone along the way)
Nicolas: Yeah, he stopped to talk about his enemies. They are the guys he was riding his bike with. When he leaves I'll get back on my bike too and ride some more. But I want to act like I am listening to him talk some more right now. (big smirky grin)
Mom: Sounds fun (as I laugh under my breath and go back to what I was doing but keep an envious little eye on Nicolas. Oh the days we could just enjoy our imaginations and play make-believe in public without our sanity being called into question!)
Soon he waved to his imaginary friend, put his helmet on and resumed riding his bike... that is until he saw his very REAL sister heading towards his matchbox cars that were left resting on the front porch. Then he stopped and warned her to stay away from them because they too were "talking to each other and wanted to be left alone."
