Glen Carbon Homecoming

The Glen Carbon Homecoming is something we look forward to each year. This year was no let down for our little clowns!

Lexi loved riding the bike with her brother. Nicolas didn't mind as long as he got to be in front.
Lexi was very sad when Nicolas was getting to go on the swings and she wasn't. Anyone who has been to a park with her knows that swings are her favorite! Well, according to the worker (and to mommy's dismay) she was well over the height requirement. Really? Look how tiny she looks!
The first 1/2 of the ride was calm but then they went much faster and higher. Mommy had to turn and look the other way. Lexi.... just had a state of shock on her face. No tears.... from either of us!
Did she like it? "Yes, it was fun!" Does she want to do it again soon? "um... no." Sigh of relief from dear ol' mom!!!
Silly little aliens, aren't they?!?!

All kids seem to love the bounce houses! These two are no exception!

Is he getting bigger and older by the photo? I think he is 12 in this one!

Shew! It was hot. We needed this ice cold refreshment! They LOVE snowcones. And what better then snowcones and self-serve syrup? Can anyone say... stain remover?
Yippee! Daddy is the best ride giver of all!

Time to go home. Sad but very, very tired!
Until next year.....

Sports Camp for our Sports Nut!

Nicolas took part in an hour long sports camp this week. He loved it! He got to focus on playing games for a different sport each day. One day was volleyball, then football, and this day it was basketball. Watch our little guy make a basket!

End of VBS Carnival

The Metro Vacation Bible School, Sportstacular, is over and they finished it off with a family carnival in their parking lot. The kids had lots of fun playing games, eating popcorn and hotdogs and playing in the bounce house. And all for $0.30 each. Yep! Hotdogs, games, everything was just $0.30 each. Amazing what you can do on $10 when nobody is trying to make a profit (smile). Thanks to our friend, Erica, for taking these super pictures!

Here goes our little bowler!

Missed....

Got em! Yeah!

Lexi's Turn! She is having fun bowling too.

Smiles off to VBS

Nicolas is taking part in the Metro Church Vacation Bible School this week. He is enjoying it! We all are. I think the break from Lexi and Mommy is good for him and good for Lexi. Lexi is getting a little one on one time with Mom and she is loving that. In fact, the first morning when we were going to pick Nicolas back up Lexi said "I don't want to pick up brother." I asked her why and it was because she liked spening time with me. (sniff) I assured her we would do that more often. She was happy then to see him.

There is no jealousy issue that one is going someplace that the other is not. And when they are seeing each other at lunch and after naps they are playing beautifully and so happy to be together again. I am over joyed! The whole house seems to be a different place from how it has been for the last two weeks with the crummy wet weather and no school to distract them. I am sad we only have two more days of this camp.

The day of this picture that my friend Erica took (Tuesday) they had four bounce houses! No need to say how excited Nicolas was. I asked which one was his favorite and he said "all four of them, mom." As if that was a dumb question. Tomorrow (Thursday) they are having a water day. That should be fun and quite a relief from the heat.

America's Past Time!

America's past time, baseball, goes on in our front yard nightly. The slope to the land helps Shawn's height be perfect for our little batters. Shawn stands on the sidewalk and pitches to them. Lexi needs a little help swinging but she has just as much fun as our little batter. He is getting better and better. They are all making their mommy take part in the sport now too.

Daddy and Lexi play catch.

Mommy helps Lexi swing.

Nicolas pitches to Lexi (and mommy)

"Hot? It's not hot! I'm having too much fun with my brother to notice!"

Swing, batter, swing!

HOMERUN!

Thanks for Going Potty With Me!

Okay, no picture right now for this one. Just a moment to post online that melted my heart. Lexi has been very interested in pottying lately and VERY interested in becoming a big girl. Everything she does she wants to do the big girl way and with as little help as possible. This week that has included wanting to wear pull-ups and big girl undies. So we are mildly working on it. She has gone in the potty off and on for a couple months.... if you catch her at that right time. But two days ago she asked to sit on it and after a lot of wiggling and goofing around she pooped. Yeah! Big dances and treats (including a shopping trip with MeeMaw and PaPaw for a pink pony and pink high heels shoes). Today she has peed on the potty more then not. We all get very excited and she gets her potty prizes each time. Very proud of her. That is how it should be, right? We are very proud of her!

But tonight... as I kiss her forhead as she lays in her bed, Lexi looked up at me and said "Thanks for going potty with me today, Mommy." She thanked me! Lexi has always had a knack at the thank you moments... "thanks for making me supper" or "thanks for my drink" or "thanks for taking me to the park." But to thank me for her success today. Blew my mind and melted my heart. Just a moment I wanted to share.

I'm sure we'll have potty photos soon enough!

Oh, by the way, according to Lexi her poopie has sparkles in it! Are you surprised? I'm not!

Strawberry Stampede

We went strawberry picking with our friends Sarah and Sophia this morning. The weather was hot but the might wind did help to cool us down (and make us a bit dusty). Lexi was so excited to go that she didn't even want books last night before bed. She just wanted to hurry to sleep so she could get up and go pick strawberries. Nicolas was excited too... except he doesn't eat strawberries. That is... until today. Now he loves them again! Yeah!

Here are my two little ones picking their strawberries. Some are riper then others of course. They had to have me see each and every one after they were picked.

Here are our three little cutey-pies with red strawberry juice covering their little cheeks (and their bottoms). Sophia (2), Nicolas (4) and Lexi (2) loved every juicy minute of it. They had fun and can't wait to come back and pick some more. Of course, I need to figure out all the ways we can use up this big box of berries first. Strawberry pancakes, muffins, ice cream .....
